CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) HIGHLIGHTS
• On the 24th of April 2020, 114 new confirmed cases and one new death were recorded in Nigeria
• One new state (Zamfara) has reported a confirmed case in the last 24 hours.
• Till date, 1095 cases have been confirmed, 208 cases have been discharged and thirty two deaths have been recorded in 27 states and the Federal Capital Territory
• The 114 new cases are reported from nine states- Lagos (80), Gombe (21), FCT (5), zamfara (2), Edo (2), Ogun (1), Oyo (1), Kaduna (1), Sokoto (1).
• A multi-sectoral national emergency operations centre (EOC), activated at Level 3, continues to coordinate the national response activities

Nothing Is Giving The Masses Hope In Buhari's Speech - AAC

The African Action Congress has slammed President Muhammadu Buhari over his nationwide broadcast on Monday, saying there was nothing in his speech to give hope to the masses, who are already being weighed down by hunger as a result of the lockdown occasioned by the spread of Coronavirus. The party in a statement by its National Organising Secretary, Oshioks Philips, described the President’s speech as a rehearsal of obvious irresponsibility. Phillips said the speech was a register of promises of nothing tangible and a mirror of the confused state of the government. Satguru Maharaji, the founder of the One Love Family Sect, has called on Nigerians to reconnect with their culture and tradition to curtail the spread of COVID-19. He made the call on Sunday while addressing newsmen at his Maharaj Village on the Ibadan-Lagos expressway. The sect leader said the best way to combat COVID-19 in Africa, particularly Nigeria, was through culture and tradition. “In the past, all the various forms of diseases were combated through cultural and traditional cures.
